We investigated a vibro-impacting indenter interacting with strata in the form of metal or rock samples experimentally and via mathematical modelling. An experimental programme was undertaken on custom-designed rig at Centre for Applied Dynamics University Aberdeen. The models captured essential mechanics when interacted samples. functions describing discontinuous phases were specific to Appropriate switch constructed positions, as well penetration depth, wherever appropriate. To seek correlation between experiments modelling, careful direct numerical integration equations motion each phase system dynamic response enabled time histories, trajectories amplitude spectra be computed. developed model facilitates optimisation vibro-impact dynamical responses.
